What's New?

1 Day Training Clinic
Saturday, June 7th, 2008
Rain date:  July 14th

Held at Rock Ridge Ranch, Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania.

What will be taught?  During the morning session, we'll cover controlling the hindquarters and giving to the bit.  These two lessons alone are the basis for building greater control and smooth performance for side-passing, speed control, balance, collection, correct lead departures, better reining and much more.  Riders will get to learn drills and exercises designed to help horse and rider become a team in every sense of the word.  After lunch, Monica will give specific focus to individual requests like ear shyness, picking up feet, getting better stops or a faster back up, transitions or overcoming spookiness.  More lesson plans and principles for building horsemanship will also be covered.

How many riders will be in the clinic?  A maximum of 7 horses and riders will be in the clinic.  Contact Rock Ridge Ranch to reserve your spot!

How long will the clinic be?  We'll start in the arena at 9 am.  At noon we'll have about a one hour lunch break before continuing until 5 pm.

What is the cost?  Riding in the clinic is $100.  Observers are $20 / person.

How do I sign up?  Visit the Rock Ridge Ranch website and get in touch with Debra.

If you have other questions, feel free to contact Monica.

Monica's time in Missouri

March 23, 2008,

At this moment, I am sitting at my desk here in my Pennsylvania home.  But during the entire preceding portion of 2008, I have been on a new adventure.  I am serving as a nanny and housekeeper to my sister's in-laws.  A large family of 11 children, 7 being under 15, they needed help managing the household while the mother of the home takes on the very challenging 27 credits toward a Certified Nursing degree.

My duties are diverse and very rewarding.  I've long wanted to become better in the kitchen and learn more about keeping a home.  The children are wonderful!  The ways that horse training has prepared me to be consistent teacher to the children are innumerable to say the very least!!

How long will I be "Nanny Monica" in Missouri?  Well, certainly, we are giving the Lord control of all the details.   The current plan is for me to be in Missouri until the second week of May.  I will drive home and spend most of the summer here in Pennsylvania.  I will be available for clinics, training sessions and - chuckle - training my own horse!   By August, I will most likely be back in Missouri to help with the school season.

There is the possibility of several training clinics being scheduled for this summer.  Keep visiting this site for updates.

To all my friends and clients who have wished me well and eagerly waited for my summer return, thank you again and again!  I look forward to seeing you in May.  Please keep in touch!

Very Sincerely,   Monica

For Sale: Only A Zip Will Do

We call her "Dolly" because she is.  She's also a 14.2hh, AQHA registered chestnut mare.  She's had 60 days of training with Monica, being exposed to lots of sacking out drills including air from the noisy compressor, dirt bikes and 4-wheelers in the arena, pool noodles and plastic tarps to name a few.  She side-passes, turns on the forehand, knows her leads and backs softly.

Traffic safe and trail ridden on roads and trails.  Performance bloodlines and a very sane, quiet mind.  Super easy to work around.  No vices, good for the farrier, loads and bathes.  Loves attention, comes to the gate to meet you.   Would make a super 4H or youth horse.   $3,500
